My life story
My story reads like a mountain trip. First deep down, then steep upwards.
I took my life in my hands and transformed myself into who I am today.
My life, part one
Oppressed youth. Hard father. Often moved, among other things from the Netherlands to Belgium. A year addicted to drugs when I was 18. Gone very deep, leaving school, personality gone.
I started working in IT. Various depressions, PTSD, addicted to alcohol, gaming, porn, etc. Antidepressants, indecision, unfortunate relationship, burnout, reflux, medication, anesthesia. Chronic sinusitis, sleep trauma, sleep medication. Lots of fear and anger.
Separation. Several months in survival mode. And then there was only silence and darkness. I was a single dad of two little kids and felt nothing.
It wasn't until that moment that I realized that things had to change and be completely different.
It wasn't until then. When I was on my knees. I didn't know how I could do it differently, so I went looking. And I listened to what a colleague told me years before, "Stephan, you shouldn't think but feel."
Through the Wim Hof method, I freed myself from my chronic sinusitis and step by step from all medication. A few years later I ran an ultramarathon. For the first time, I experienced that I had my life in my own hands and that the solutions were inside me.
How everything fell into place.
I became a sponge for everything that had to do with happiness and health. And I reaped the benefits: I freed myself from my obstacles as I continued to search. Until I took a life coaching training and other participants thought I was already a personal trainer. Suddenly it became clear: this was what I want to do and who I want to be.
After that first training followed 'Leadership by Heart' (Peter Svenning), 'Psychological Fitness Specialist' (Dr. Mark Atkinson), 'Elite Mentorship Forum' (Peter Sage), 'B-Mind Academy' etc. Again, I invest a lot of time in further training, deepening and adjusting. And of course, I apply my insights myself.
At this stage, my commitment has let me to the Psychological Fitness Teacher training.
My deepest passion?
